Maritime Educaton & Training (MET) in Maritime Education Training Academy (META)
Salam MET
team
Cik Yani,
Thank you and appreciated your effort in updating myself towards MET and META progress generally. Please keep it up.
EN. Ahmad,
May i know what is happening to you as you are drifting away silently. I need the feedback from you as well. Your hand might be full in trying to fulfill company's requirement but your feedback is merely important as i need to know your movement, MET as well as META overall from your own perspective. Keeping silent is not a good practice as what i had briefed both of you in our last short discussion. the same goes to un-returned calls, sms and email. Information is purely important for us to move forward in taking our positive decision on our strategies and planning. It plays an important role in ensuring either we can challenge our status quo or not. Otherwise advised by Capt Sapuan, i presumed that the MET structure remains the same. Thus, i appreciate if you can resume in updating me accordingly although you are dealing directly with Capt Sapuan on daily operations.
For your information, prior to my discussion with several Malaysian & foreign captains, i wish to highlight the two points below on Malaysian crew members which i think we should be focusing on to find a solution to offer the best crew members' package to the existing market.
1. Attitude - Challenge authorities, refuse to carry on jobs etc
2. Salary - Higher than foreign crew members?
10 days training is insufficient to reproduce human's behaviour overall but we must squeeze in the positive attitude motivational to the students. I think it is time now for all our fresh new students instead of being trained on safety etc but also be etc should as well be emphasized on the importancy of keeping good behaviour to challenge the foreigners'. By doing this, i think we can also challenge the salary matter where the market would not mind pay more if their crews are completed package. I suggest that all lecturers should be smart enough and plan their own way of delivering the materials as well as the positive attitude.
The question now is what type of positive attitude needed to delivered? As a human being, we all are fully aware of the existing positive & negative attitudes and of course, we would prefer the positives. Thus, all lecturers should and capable of delivering it handsomely.
MET should be monitoring on this process such as survey, discussion etc so that we are able to take alternative steps in ensuring META' s objective to produce a well behavioured crew members achieved.
Please advise your thoughts.
Best regards,
Capt Muhammad Ismail Mohd Noor
